Do you hate paper as much as I do?! I am always on the look out for ways to reduce paper in my house, at work and everywhere in between. I wanted to find a way to make my grocery list paperless. I know there are a ton of apps out there for this but I didn’t want to use a one hit wonder app. One of my goals is to start using my smartphone for increased productivity at home. I use it all the time for the basics, email, texting, social media, reading articles, researching products and lists (sometimes). I have used Evernote for meeting notes and agendas so I figured I would start here and see how it goes.
I know I can create a note or a list for myself and I do that all the time but the major advantage here is that I am going to share the list with my husband so he can add items to the list too. He usually creates his own list or circles the circular before I go through it. I usually don’t see all of his circles and end up missing items in my trip. Now he will be able to add items directly to the list.
Grocery List Quick Start
- Create a new notebook for sharing with your family (if you don’t plan on sharing, pick the notebook you want to use)
- Create a new note
- Add a title (Grocery List, Target List, etc.)
- Create a checkbox list and start typing (More Tips)
- Share with your husband, kids, etc.
My husband and I actually started using checklists in Evernote for the kids Christmas list but it was midstream so it didn’t work out like I expected. Next year, I will have the older kids create their lists in Evernote. We will make a copy of it and we’ll share a copy to create a shared master list. I wouldn’t want the kids to see what we were actually getting them from their list, that would ruin the surprise.
